The Kashima, designed by Michel Ducaroy, embodies the timeless elegance of "English" comfort. Its generous contours lend an inviting and reassuring aesthetic to its all-foam construction. Beneath its pleasing appearance lies a plush and supportive seating experience, defined by rounded, curved lines with integrated armrests, lumbar support, and a headrest. Despite its softness, the Kashima maintains exceptional durability thanks to the high-density foams that form its structure. It’s worth noting that foam density is the key determinant of a seat's longevity—the denser the foam, the more enduring the comfort.

The buttoning is crafted with precision using invisible tie rods embedded within the foam. While Kashima’s design leans towards classicism, it retains an element of playful sophistication. Its fully quilted cover features “pinched” seams at the corners, reinforced with interior laces. The unique nest-like shape of the seat ensures the user feels comfortably cradled and supported on all sides.

Materials

Structure:

The frame is constructed entirely from foam with two distinct densities:

Polyether 21kg/m³ – 3.2kPa

Polyether 28kg/m³ – 4.8kPa
It is clad in 480g/m² polyester quilting.

Comfort:

The seat and backrest are crafted from high-resilience polyurethane Bultex foam with densities of:

36kg/m³ – 3.6kPa

26kg/m³ – 1.4kPa
Both are encased in hypersoft foam (45kg/m³ – 1.8kPa) for enhanced comfort.

Cover:

The upholstery features twin-needle overstitching on all seams and buttoning. It is made from 480g/m² polyester quilting.
